The Way We Operate
The way Village Gardens (London) Ltd. operates during a garden project.
- One of our representatives has visited you to discuss your project, to take measurements as appropriate and to survey the proposed area of works. In order to provide a quotation they will have assessed the following aspects associated with your project:
- The ease of access to the site of the project, considering the transportation of waste and materials to and from the garden to the public highway.
- The quantities and quality of materials required for the construction of your new garden, price of such materials, the delivery of such materials and the cost of disposal of waste associated with the project.
- The amount of labour, the machine hire and the time required to complete your new garden.
- Any Health and Safety considerations; for example the handling of hazardous materials such as cement, the proximity of employees, customers or members of the public to the loud noise of machines and the lifting of materials.
- Our representative will have estimated the full cost of your garden project and informed you within a short but reasonable period of time. Once you have considered this estimate, our representative would be willing to discuss adjustments to the project which you might like to make in the light of the estimated price you have been given. When this discussion has finished then you will be presented with a full written quotation which itemises the tasks to be undertaken and the materials to be used to fulfil the project. This quotation will remain active for 30 days from the date the quotation was published. After this 30 day period Village Gardens (London)Ltd reserved the right to update the quotation in the case of material, labour, waste or hire price changes. Within this 30 days our representative will be willing and able to discuss with you any queries you may have about the quotation.
- If you are happy with your quotation please inform our representative, or our office, as soon as possible. We will then discuss a project starting date that is convenient to you and possible for us. We will need time to complete ongoing projects or order materials. Once we have agreed a date to start your project, we will send you a contract signed by our representative, which represents the quotation and date of the project. In the case of projects costing more than £500.00 we will require a 30% deposit seven days in advance of the start date and a copy of the contract signed by you. We can accept the deposit by cheque or by BACS. In the case of BACS, please contact us for our bank account number and sort code.
- All work carried out by employees of Village Gardens (London) Ltd. is covered by Public Liability insurance up to £1m and Employers’ Liability of up to £5m. Our representative will be happy to show you these certificates of insurance upon request. We insist that all employees are aware of and operate in accordance with current Health and Safety law. This law provides regulations for lifting, personal protective equipment, handling of hazardous materials and use of public areas for the storage of materials and waste.
- Our representative will have given you an estimate of the time we require to complete the project. Unless there have been any radical changes between the time you were given this estimate and the time you received your quotation, we will endeavour to complete the project within that estimate of time. We feel duty bound to inform you immediately of any changes to this time which may arise due to bad weather conditions, discovery of unforeseen problems or any outbreak of sickness which may adversely affect our ability to complete your project within the time agreed.
- All materials used in the construction of your garden project will be covered by manufacturers’ guarantees. These guarantees will not affect your statutory rights and will be found in the appropriate publications advertising these materials. Village Gardens (London) Ltd. will advise you on all aspects of the maintenance of your new materials when the project is complete.
We also offer a maintenance service and an after-sales service associated with providing care to materials used in your project and new garden-related products you might wish to purchase. These include cleaning and protection products for structures, new plants, pots and a regular garden maintenance service. - Once your project has been completed our site manager will show you around the works and answer any questions you may have. Upon satisfactory completion of your project s/he will present your invoice and expect payment by cheque, BACS or cash. S/he will be happy to discuss with you any aspects of our one year works guarantee, our after-sales services, regular maintenance or any other related post-project aspect.
